MSc Student

Henrique Gatinho Pereira is an MSc student in Computational Biology and Bioinformatics at ITQB NOVA. He holds a BSc in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Algarve. He is currently developing his master's dissertation in collaboration with the School of Engineering and Technology (EET) at IPLuso and CoLAB AccelBio, under the supervision of Dr. Bruno L. Victor and Dr. Tomás Silva. His research project, entitled "Computational Screening of PROTACs for the Selective Targeting of TrkB-ICD in Neurological Disorders", combines molecular dynamics simulations, artificial intelligence-driven molecular docking, and structure-based computational approaches to identify and evaluate proteolysis-targeting chimeras (PROTACs) capable of selectively degrading the neurotoxic TrkB intracellular domain (TrkB-ICD). By exploring targeted protein degradation as a therapeutic strategy, his work aims to contribute to the development of innovative treatments for neurological disorders, including Alzheimer’s disease and epilepsy. His research interests encompass computational drug discovery, molecular modelling, protein dynamics, and AI-assisted approaches for therapeutic design.
